The Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF) is an artist-led NGO (Non-governmental organization initiated by Bruce Onobrakpeya and registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affair Commission on 18th April 2002. BOF administrative office is temporarily at 41 Oloje Street, Papa, Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria. BOF will later be administered from its headquarter now under construction at Airport Road, Agbarha-otor in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria.

THE HARMATTAN WORKSHOPS (HWS) are an informal educational setup as a retreat where artists meet, think, work, experiment and share ideas. They are designed to help develop and sustain creative endeavors in the arts, particularly the visual arts

To enroll, the applicant should fill the application form and make payment from the Harmattan workshop enrollment.

There are 4 categories of participants to the workshop:-

  1. Participants sponsored by organization N100,000.00
  2. Regular Participants             N 50,000.00
  3. Post Graduate Students N 40,000.00
  4. Undergraduate Students             N 35,000.00
  5. Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF) sponsored participant who are mainly indigenes from the community and environs.

Other category that is a waiver for participation fee is the volunteer status. As a result of the heavily subsidized participation fee by BOF, all participants are volunteers. But intended participants who don’t have the financial empowerment to enrol may apply as volunteers and would be considered after due scrutiny and willingness to perform some pre-assigned duties for volunteers.

The venue of the Harmattan Workshop is the Onobrak Art Centre, Agbarha Otor. Delta State. Participant coming from the Lagos axis may approach the venue through Lagos – Benin express road and from Benin to Ughelli through Warri, then make a detour at Agbarha-Otor junction in Ughelli.  Participant from Port- Harcourt will get to Ughelli en-route Warri and proceed to Agbarha Otor at the diversion by Agbarha Junction.

Participants who wish to acquire additional materials to augment what is given at the workshop may do so at the Art shop in the Onobrak Centre.  Items in the shop include oil colour, Drawing sheets, Sketch pads, Pencils, Brushes, Masking tapes, Canvases, etc.  Other items are branded souvenirs and gifts to be acquired as collectables or memorabilia.

Registration forms should be fill by intended candidates (Online) thereafter, payment would be made via Master or Visa Card. The participant will be given the green light to make payment after fulfilling the pre-requisites for participation.

The Harmattan Workshop registration fee is highly subsidized by the chairman of BOF Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya.  There are basically 2 sessions every year (first session and August Retreat), and some year it extends to3 or 4 sessions depending on availability of funds.  The fee for the first session cover feeding, accommodation and some materials, while the fee for August Retreat is for feeding and accommodation only.

Yes, Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya will be at this year’s workshop. However, the workshop is one of several venues you can make your research on Prof. Onobrakpeya. Other avenues include number 41 Oloje Street, Papa Ajao, Mushin. Lagos.
